"Government plans to receive and utilise 400500 million Covid-19 vaccine doses. Our target is to cover 20-25 crore people by July 2021. For that, we are building capacities in HR, training, supervision, etc, on a massive scale," he said at his weekly webinar 'Sunday Samvaad' for his social media followers. The Minister said that a high-level committee under Niti Aayog Member, Health, V K Paul is drawing up the entire process. "Vaccine procurement is being done centrally and each consignment will be tracked real time until delivery to ensure it reaches those who need it most," he said. Harsh Vardhan said these committees are working on understanding the timelines of availability of various vaccines in the country, obtaining commitments from their manufacturers to make available maximum number of doses for India's inventory, on supply chain management and on prioritisation of high-risk groups. "This is work in progress which will be completed by the time the vaccines are ready to ensure the swift roll-out of the immunisation programme," he said. He also indicated that the frontline workers and those having underlying health conditions are in the top priority list of the government for vaccine administration. Both sides had held the last round of talks on the border standoff on September 21, which remained inconclusive as Indian negotiators firmly demanded comprehensive disengagement at all flashpoints and restoration of status quo ante as the only approach towards de-escalation. Beijing had asked New Delhi to withdraw its soldiers from strategic heights on the southern bank of Pangong Tso to reduce friction. While, the State Government is planning to is- sue notification to fill jobs in big number before the election notification was issued, the opposition parties have started campaign against the government on unemployment and want to cash in on group politics within TRS. Political activity is gaining momentum in Telangana as the Election Commission launched the enrollment drive inviting the graduates to enroll their names as voters from October 1 onwards. Deadline for submission of applications is November 6 and the final electoral rolls will be published on January 18. The MLC elections, the TRS leaders feel, will help the party in gauging the people’s opinion on the performance of the govern- ment during TRS-2 regime led by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. It will also help them in the ensuing GHMC and other local body elections. In the last elections, TRS had won the Nalgonda - Khammam and Warangal Graduates' Constituency and lost Karimnagar - Adilabad - Nizamabad - Medak graduates' constituency in the last elections. This time, KCR wants that the Pink Party should win both the seats. It may be recalled that the Chief Minister had told party workers on Saturday that there should be no complacency by party workers and also hinted at the possibility of some sops like lowering the LRS fees to be announced. Understandably so as the Senior Security Advisor to the Union Home Ministry K Vijay Kumar, the former chief of the Tamil Nadu police special task force that killed forest brigand Veerappan in 2004, CRPF DG AP Maheshwari, Telangana DGP M Mahender Reddy and other top officials flew to Venkatapuram to chalk out an action plan that puts a tab on outlawed CPI-Maoists’ activities in the region. Even though Venkatapuram is the epicentre of Maoist insurgency, never before had the region seen such a top brass of officials descending on it. The speculation is rife that following intelligence inputs that a group of ultras had infiltrated into Telangana, the police have convened the meeting. It may be recalled here that the police is on high alert in the Agency especially forest fringe habitations abutting River Godavari for the last few weeks with the DGP Mahender Reddy himself frequenting Naxal insurgency areas. In fact, this is the second visit of the DGP to Mulugu district in two months. Although the officials held the Sunday’s high-level meeting in-camera in Venkatapuram, the sources say that they had stressed the need for more cooperation among the two States - Telangana and Chhattisgarh – and Central Armed Forces in carrying anti-Naxal operations.
