Yadav, while addressing a virtual briefing, informed the exams will be held to fill around 1.40 lakh posts in three categories of vacancies. The vacancies are of three types - nontechnical popular categories (guards, clerks etc), isolated and ministerial and level 1 (track maintainers, pointsman etc). Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal also announced the exam dates on Twitter. Continued on Page 4 Harish Rao tests Covid +ve Finance Minister will be missing Assembly session beginning tomorrow HANS NEWS SERVICE Hyderabad: Finance Minister T Harish Rao, who tested positive for corona virus, will be missing the Assembly session as he would have to be under quarantine for the next two weeks. In a tweet on Saturday, Harish Rao confirmed about being tested positive. “On getting initial symptoms of coronavirus, I got the test done and the report came back positive. My health is fine. I request that all those who have come in contact with me in the last few days, please isolate yourself and get Covid test done,” he tweeted. Rao had undergone Covid-19 test in wake of the Assembly sessions starting from September 7. The Assembly Speaker had mandated all the members to undergo tests to participate in the sessions and said that only those with negative report would be allowed to attend the Assembly. According to Assembly sources, in all 877 people were tested for Covid and out of them 11 tested positive and most of them were staff members and two journalists. It may be mentioned here that Harish Rao is the third minister to have tested positive. Earlier, Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali and Labour Minister Ch Malla Reddy had also tested positive. The TRS leaders, including Ministers and MLAs have wished Harish Rao speedy recovery from the virus. Party’s working president and Minister KT Rama Rao tweeted “Get well soon Bava. I am sure you’ll recover faster than others.” Chief Minister’s daughter and former MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha also prayed for the recovery of Harish Rao. In her tweet, Kavitha said, “All our prayers are with you Bava. With your resolute will power, you will soon come out of this and defeat corona virus.” Venkaiah Naidu owes his success to teachers HANS NEWS SERVICE The Vice-President paid his humble tributes to former INDIA ALLOWS TESTING ON DEMAND FOR COVID-19 New Delhi: The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has allowed testing on-demand for Covid-19 even as it has allowed states to adapt to the recommendation as per their requirements. “ICMR’s advisory is generic in nature and may be modified as per the discretion of state health authorities,” said the national research agency in its advisory. The advisory came after the Delhi high court asked the state government to re-strategise its policy to include asymptomatic patients for testing. ICMR told the court it is just an advisory body and states were free to make changes as per their needs. Rapid antigen testing (RAT) is the preferred strategy for screening in Covid-19 containment zones. Continued on Page 4 ‘Don’t attempt to change status quo at LAC’ Moscow/New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has clearly conveyed to his Chinese counterpart Gen Wei Fenghe that China must strictly respect the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and not make attempts to unilaterally change its status quo, asserting India is determined to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity, officials said on Saturday. Rajnath Singh had gone to Moscow to participate in a joint meeting of Defence Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO), and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries. Just before leaving Moscow, he said: "Leaving Moscow for Tehran. I shall be meeting the Defence Minister of Iran, Brigadier General Amir Hatami." Rlys to start 80 more spl trains from Sept 12 Reservations from Sept 10 New Delhi: Railway Board chairman VK Yadav on Saturday said 80 new special trains will start from September 12 and reservations for the same will begin from September 10 adding that trains will be notiﬁed later in the day. “Eighty new special trains or 40 pair of trains will start operations from September 12. Reservations will begin from September 10. This will run in addition to the 230 trains already in operation,” Yadav said. The chairman of the railway board pointed out that all trains that are currently in operation will be monitored in order to determine which trains have a long waiting list. “Wherever there is a demand for a particular train, wherever the waiting list is long, we will run a clone train ahead of the actual train, so that passengers can travel,” the railway board chairman said. Yadav also said the Railways will run trains whenever there is demand from states for exams or other similar purposes. Earlier, the Indian Railways said it will run special trains across states for students appearing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEE) and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) . The National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the NEET on September 13 and JEE from September 1 to September 6.
