An insider is suspected to have helped the hacking group gain access to the database. The group with the alias "John Wick" was able to upload a backdoor/Adminer on Paytm Mall application/website, said the report. It appears the breach affects all accounts and related information at Paytm mall, it added. "Our sources also forwarded us the messages where the perpetrator also claimed they are receiving the ransom payment from the Paytm mall as well," Cyble said, adding that it could not confirm if the ransom was actually paid. Leaking data when failing to meet hackers demands is a known technique deployed by various cybercrime groups, including ransomware operators, the online intelligence firm said. The perpetrator claimed the hack happened due to an insider at Paytm Mall. The claims, however, are unverified. In 2019, the company faced a fraud allegedly caused due to their junior employees. Paytm Mall was yet to respond to the report of the data breach. Russia were initially declared winners after two Indian players -- Nihal Sarin and Divya Deshmukh -- lost out on time in the final after suffering a disconnection with the server. India lodged a protest against the controversial decision which was reviewed. This was the first time FIDE, the international chess federation, was holding the Olympiad in an online format, due to the COVID19 pandemic. "FIDE president Arkady Dvorkovich made a decision to give gold medals of FIDE Online #ChessOlympiad to both teams - India and Russia," the world chess body tweeted. "We are the champions !! Congrats Russia!," the legendary Viswananthan Anand wrote on his twitter handle after the final. The first round of the final ended in a 3-3 draw with all the six games finishing in stalemate. The Indian census is one of the largest administrative and statistical exercises in the world, with the involvement of more than 30 lakh officials who would visit each household across the length and breadth of the country. "Census is not an essential exercise for now. Even if it is delayed by a year, there would be no harm," a senior official told PTI. The official said no final decision has been taken on when the first phase of the Census 2021 and NPR update would take place, but it is almost certain that it would not be held in 2020 due to the rising cases of the coronavirus. The house-listing phase of the Census and the exercise to update NPR were scheduled to be carried out across the country from April 1 to September 30, 2020, but were postponed due to the Covid19 outbreak. "As the entire exercise needs the involvement of lakhs of officials and visit to each family, we can't undermine the health risk involved in it," the official said. VASU POTNURU A low-key affair: AP flyover set for opening on Sept 4 HANS NEWS SERVICE Amaravati: Any State government would normally celebrate the inauguration of major flyover/s completed during its tenure and take credit for the same in a big way. However, the AP government is wary of doing so in case of the two most prestigious projects - Kanakadurga Flyover and Benz Circle Flyover - that are all set for inauguration on September 4 by Union Minister for Highways Nitin Gadkari. These Nitin Gadkari to open Benz Circle Flyover also two are in fact the projects of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which had begun during the tenure of the previous government. Nitin Gadkari had taken personal interest in speeding up the projects. Not to miss a chance, the TDP has been quick to point out that the incumbent government was unduly attempting to take credit for the same. This has led to a counter from the ruling party, which claimed that the TDP could not complete the projects on time. The TDP retorted saying that this was an NHAI project and there have been technical problems faced by the contractor, including non availability of sand in last one and half years. They said the sixlane Kanakadurga flyover is one of its kind seen only in metropolitan cities of Delhi and Mumbai. This Varadhi is a beam bridge spanning across river Krishna and is third longest road bridge in Andhra Pradesh. This flyover has been of particular interest to both the political parties which have been sparring over it from the beginning. These two bring major relief to the citizens of Vijayawada as well to the highway traffic, mostly consisting of heavy duty trucks. Official circles say that the state government does not want a fresh political bout over the inauguration of the two flyovers, which could mar the inaugural atmosphere in the presence of the Union Minister. Secondly, the BJP factor too is being taken into account which too is a claimant to the credit. "Any serious spat with the TDP in this regard might arraign the BJP alongside the former and this is not a good idea now," sources said. Hence, it is said that the scale of the publicity will be a low key affair. India opts out of military exercise where China, Pak in New Delhi (IANS): Amid a hostile situation on its borders with China and Pakistan, India on Saturday decided not to take part in a multilateral strategic command post exercise in Russia next month in which its two neighbours were also participating. An Indian military contingent was to take part in "Kavkaz 2020" ("Caucasus 2020"), exercise next month where various countries, including China and Pakistan, were participants. The Indian government on Saturday decided it would not take part in the exercise. It stated, "...in view of the pan- demic and consequent difficulties in the exercise, including arrangements of logistics, India has decided not to send a contingent this year to Kavkaz-2020. The same has been informed to the Russian side." The government reiterated that Russia and India are close and privileged strategic partners. The exercise in Astrakhan region of south Russia between September 15 and 26 would witness the participation of over 12,500 troops, including from Russia. China is sending an army contingent, and also a naval deploy- A coronavirus cases in India rose to 35,42,733, while the death toll climbed to 63,498 as on Sunday. According to the earlier schedule, the census would have its reference date as March 1, 2021, and in the snow-bound areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, it would be October 1, 2020. "The COVID-19 threat is still looming large. The census and NPR are not in the priority list of the government as of now," another official said. In March, when the coronavirus-induced lockdown was announced, the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India was all set for the first phase of the census and updation of the NPR that was scheduled to begin from April 1. Even though some state governments opposed the NPR update, all offered full support to the census exercise. The census is the largest single source of a variety of statistical information on people of India which helps the State to chalk out various policies. With a history of more than 130 years, this reliable, time tested exercise has been bringing out a veritable wealth of statistics every 10 years, including on the rich diversity of the people, and has become one of the tools to understand and study India. The aim and scope of the exercise is improving cooperation. The idea is for militaries to prepare for joint action with units of armies of foreign states. Apart from India's fellow Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) members China, Pakistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, the other counties participating were Mongolia, Syria, Iran, Egypt, Belarus, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. Contingents from Abkhazia, and South Osetia, which are partially recognised by states by Russia and a few other nations, will also be present. The exercise comes amid an over three month long standoff between India and China at the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh. Despite several levels of dialogue, there has not been any breakthrough and the deadlock continues. There have been several clashes between troops of both sides and the most brutal took place on June 15 in Galwan Valley where India lost 20 of its men while there was an undisclosed number of casualties on the Chinese side. Visakhapatnam: Waltair Division secures a place in the top five in the Indian Railways when it comes to revenue generation. However, 2020 seems to be a different scenario altogether as the freight and passenger volume graph continues to drop due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown and the pandemic situation. From March to July alone, the division incurred a loss of over Rs 1,000 crore. With passenger traffic coming to a grinding halt and no indication of resuming the service in near future, the railway officials say that the loss may further go up. In order to overcome the mounting losses, the Waltair Division is able to manage with the freight traffic. From April to June, the division has transported 11.81 million tonnes of essentials to various destinations. The list commodities transported includes coal, iron ore, mineral oils and raw material for steel plants, and food grains. As a result, the division gained the sixth highest loading position in the Indian Railways. In 2019-20, the division earned Rs 562.18 crore through passenger service, Rs 8,166.32 crore through freight. This year, till July, the division generated a revenue of Rs.10.33 crore through passenger service, while it is Rs 1,878 crore through freight traffic. Of the total revenue (passenger plus freight service), the division incurred a loss of 34.83 percent till July. “Since we could make up for the losses with the freight service, the total revenue loss has been brought down to an extent. We hope to boost revenue by next year. The current situation will improve gradually once the passenger service resumes,” says Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair, East Coast Railway.
