The Patidar leader, who joined the Congress on March 12 and was being projected to be a candidate for the Jamnagar seat, has challenged the March 29 Gujarat High Court order rejecting his plea. The High Court did not accept his plea that an irreparable loss would be caused to him if he was not able to contest Lok Sabha election. 8 P11 Polavaram has become ATM for Naidu: Modi HANS NEWS SERVICE Rajahmundry: Launching a scathing attack on Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleged that the Polavaram project had become an ATM for Naidu to withdraw money whenever he wanted. Calling the Chief Minister as ‘U-turn Babu’ and ‘sticker Babu’, Modi said the government had enhanced the project estimations to get commissions and that he has no commitment to complete the Polavaram project, the life line of Andhra Pradesh. He said Naidu was acting like Bhallaladeva of Baahubali fame to come back to power. Naidu is not concerned about the welfare of people, he added. Four terrorists killed in Pulwama encounter n 3 security personnel hurt in the operation Srinagar: Four Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists have been killed in an anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district. Three security personnel were also injured in the operation in the south Kashmir district. "Four terrorists have been eliminated in Pulwama operation," Srinagar-based defence spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said. Police sources said the injured soldiers have been evacuated to hospital and their condition is stated to be out of danger. The overnight operation was launched by security personnel following a specific information about the presence of terrorists in Lassipora area. As the forces zeroed in the cordon, they came under firing from hiding terrorists. In the ensuing encounter all the four terrorists were killed. Four rifles and ammunition have been recovered from the site of the encounter. The anti-terror operation comes a day after a security personnel was injured in a grenade attack by terrorists in Pulwama town. The security personnel who was posted on law and order duty suffered minor injuries in the grenade blast, a police official said. Interestingly, Modi claimed that it was he who declared the Polavaram project as a national project at the first Cabinet meeting and sanctioned Rs 7,000 crore for its construction. But he said the Chief Minister, for narrow political gains, was blaming the Centre for not releasing funds for the project. Continued on Page 15 Pulivendula/ Kadapa/ Puthalapattu: Spitting fire against PM Modi, AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that Modi was no different from the Britishers who had looted the country. Modi, who has nothing to showcase, was now stooping to the lowest level of smear campaign. He talks of my son and family. What does Modi know about family? We are proud that we are married, we have a family and live with them unlike Modi who has abandoned his wife. Naidu asked Modi not to cross his limits. “Try all your tricks, use Income-Tax department and Enforcement Directorate but you can do no harm to us. We will not succumb to your pressures. There are people like Jaganmohan Reddy who will dance to your tunes not me. Your evil looks can do no harm to the state,” he said. Chief Minister challenged Modi, KCR and Jagan to try all tricks under their sleeve Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu addressing an election meeting in Pulivendula on Monday to stop Polavaram project. By July, he would complete the project and see that water flows through gravity and prove his strength, he added. Naidu said Modi has a curse that if he speaks truth his head would split into pieces and hence, he refuses to see what truth is. Similarly, Modi and KCR do not want Amaravati to be completed. But their designs will not succeed as people are with TDP. Naidu took the fight right to the doorstep of Opposition leader Jaganmohan Reddy. Campaigning in Pulivendula, Chief Minister said that if TDP was voted to power the 20 per cent tax on sweet lemon and banana which is known as ‘JST’ (Jagan service tax) would be done away. TO ACHIEVE SPECIAL STATUS FOR AP Jagan defends taking TRS support n Will back any party which assures SCS, says YSRCP chief HANS NEWS SERVICE Peddapuram/Bhimavaram: YSRCP chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy said on Monday that he was seeking the support of the TRS as it was not possible for his party only to achieve the special category status to Andhra Pradesh on its own. If YSRCP wins 25 seats and joins hands with the TRS which would get 17 seats, it would be easy for him to put pressure on the Centre irrespective of the party comes to power there and achieve the SCS. Addressing a series of public meetings in East Godavari and West Godavari districts, Jagan said his party has no tie-ups or secret pacts with any political party and will support any dispensation at the Centre after the polls that assures the special category status. Reddy said if the TDP comes back to power the party would gobble up everything such as farm YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy addressing a meeting in Bhimavaram on Monday lands, sand, hillocks and all natural resources, including rivers, whereas if YSRCP is voted to power it would implement ‘Navaratnas’ and fill the lives people with happiness. The TDP promised jobs for youth but except creating a job for himself and his son, Chief Min- ister Naidu did nothing for the people, he said. In a vitriolic attack on Naidu, the YSRCP president described the former as the richest chief minister. When he began his political career, he had just two acres. The unemployment rate has doubled during the past five years. Most of the issues remained unresolved and even the actor-turnedpartner of the chief minister Pawan Kalyan could not get justice done, he added. If the TDP is voted to power, government schools will be closed. People will have to pay exorbitant fees FAKE SURVEY: Lokniti denies doing any survey in AP New Delhi: A pre-election survey, attributed to Lokniti predicting the TDP will win in Andhra Pradesh in the upcoming elections, is fake. Lokniti CSDS issued a statement saying it has not carried out any such survey in the state. The fake survey, which features the logos of Lokniti and CSDS, predicts a landslide win for TDP with 126-135 Assembly seats and 18-22 Lok Sabha seats. It also lists that the YSRCP will lose to the TDP and get only 45-50 Assembly seats and 3-5 Lok Sabha seats. and education will not be within the reach of the common man. On the other hand, if the YSRCP comes to power, it would bear the entire burden of fees for the poor, he said. Jagan said they had promised Amma Vodi scheme where in Rs 15,000 will be deposited into mother’s bank account for sending her two children to school. Fees reimbursement will be implemented, and professional courses will be brought within the reach of weaker sections. The meagre Rs 3,000 given to women groups is nothing but a bait and Chandrababu Naidu is known for cheating people by not fulfilling the election promises, Jagan said. “Compare the meagre Rs 3,000 with Rs 75,000 that women would be getting towards YSR Cheyutha,” he said. The YSRCP, he said, will create mini secretariats in all villages and take administration to the people’s doorstep. Addressing roadshows in Pulivendula and Kadapa, Naidu said it has come to his notice recently that such tax was being levied illegally. No such tax exists anywhere in the country except in Pulivendula. The man, who dreams of becoming chief minister, was fleecing farmers levying JST. If such a person comes to power people should understand what kind of rule will prevail in the state. In the last four decades, YSR family had done nothing for the development of the constituency. All that they had contributed was anarchy in that area. Naidu said that TDP would never tolerate such acts and would ensure that people were free from such harassments and that Pulivendula becomes No 1 constituency in terms of development. The state government had spent Rs 1,200 crore to supply water to Pulivendula by storing 2 tmc ft water in Gandikota reservoir and completion of pending lining works for canals. Continued on Page 15 Rahul refused tie-up with AAP for LS polls: Kejri New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said Congress president Rahul Gandhi has refused to forge an alliance with the AAP for the Lok Sabha polls in the national capital. Talking to reporters at the airport in Delhi, the AAP leader said he had met Rahul Gandhi recently and the Congress leader had refused to "join hands with the AAP". Asked about Congress's Delhi unit president Sheila Dikshit's remarks that Arvind Kejriwal never approached her for an alliance, the Chief Minister said, "We have met Rahul Gandhi. Sheila Dikshit is not that important leader." Kejriwal has been urging the Congress to stitch an alliance in Delhi for the Lok Sabha polls to keep the BJP away from power. Leaders in the Delhi unit of the Congress were divided over the issue of alliance with Dikshit and her three working presidents opposing it, party sources had said. A top source in the party had recently said that chances of alliance were "slim" considering its long-term repercussions in Delhi. "The biggest question is how will Congress face the AAP in Assembly elections due in 2020 after the tie-up. Also, the party does not gain much politically as it is being offered only 2-3 seats by Kejriwal," the source had said. ISRO puts Emisat, 28 foreign satellites into orbit ENABLES DRDO GET ELECTRONIC INTELLIGENCE CAPABILITY Sriharikota: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Monday put Emisat -- an electronic intelligence satellite for the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) -and 28 other foreign satellites into orbit in a copybook style. With Monday's launch, India has successfully put into orbit 297 foreign satellites to date. So far, Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) rocket has put into orbit nation's 46 satellites, including 10 satellites built by students from Indian universities. Notable aspects of this space mission are the flying of a new variant of PSLV, switching off and on the fourth stage engine couple of times and the use of the fourth stage as an orbital platform carrying three experimental payloads. After the successful launch, space agency's chairman K Sivan said: "Today the PSLV has successfully injected the ISRO-made Emisat satellite into its intended orbit and 28 customer satellites at a 504-km altitude. "The mission is special for the ISRO on many counts as it was the first time a PSLV rocket was launched with four strap-on motors; the mission has three different orbits ISRO's PSLV-C45 carrying EMISAT and 28 other satellites lifts off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota on Monday for the very first time; the fourth stage was made an orbital platform for experiments; and there was also a new team for the PSLV." Sivan said the industry contributed a lot for the building of the rocket and satellite. "Ninety-five per cent of the rocket hardware and 60-65 per cent of satellite components were fabricated by the industry," he said. At 9.27 am, the PSLV rocket standing at 44.5 metres tall and weighing 239 tonne with a oneway ticket, hurtled itself towards the skies. With the fierce orange flame at its tail lighting, the rocket slowly gathered speed and went up. Heeding to the demand of the public to view the rocket launch, Sivan said that a viewers' gallery was built and 1,200 people enjoyed spectacle. He said for the next mission about 5,000 people will be allowed to witness the launch. As regards future missions, Sivan said the next PSLV rocket will carry RISAT and it will be followed by another PSLV launch carrying Cartosat-3 satellite. India will also launch two more defence satellites sometime in July or August with its new rocket Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV).
