Verma calls it quits K CHANDRASHEKAR Hyderabad: Blood is thicker than water. But, what if efficiency of the highest order and loyalty also come into play. And, how about the taunt that ‘family rule’ defines Telangana Rashtra Samiti? These are some of the underlying factors at work when it comes to answering the overriding question ahead of cabinet formation: Will T Harish Rao and K T Rama Rao, young Turks of the party, be inducted into the cabinet? This is also the hot topic of discussion among various TRS circles. While some argue that both the young leaders will be inducted into the cabinet, there are others who say that only Harish will get a chance as KTR has been entrusted with the arduous task of handling party’s performance in the upcoming elections, initially panchayat and later the Lok Sabha elections. The TRS president, after taking charge as the Chief Minister, appointed K T Rama Rao as the party’s working president. The message was clear and unmistakeable. Accordingly, KTR has been visiting the districts and is trying to ensure that the TRS sweeps the panchayat elections. According to some party lead- CHANDRAYAAN-2 IN MARCH-APRIL ISRO to send Indians to space by Dec 2021 Bengaluru: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Friday said it would send astronauts to space by December 2021. Addressing a press conference, ISRO Chief K Sivan said that the preparations for Gaganyaan Mission are underway and it will prove to be a major turnaround for India's space agency. In his Independence Day speech last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced about the Gaganyaan project, saying that India would send an astronaut to space in the year 2022."When India celebrates 75th year of Independence in 2022, and if possible even before, an Indian son or daughter will undertake a manned space mission on board 'Gaganyaan' carrying the national flag," the PM had said. If India successfully launch the mission, it would be the fourth nation to do so after the United States, Russia and China. "The initial training for Gaganyaan will be done in India and advanced training maybe in Russia. Women astronauts will be there on the team. That's our aim," ISRO chief was quoted as saying. "We will set up six incubation and research centres across the country. We will bring the Indian students to ISRO. Why do the Indian students need to go to NASA?" said ISRO chief. ISRO aims to deploy its biggest rocket, the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III (GSLV Mk III), to send the astronauts into space from the Sriharikota space port in Andhra Pradesh. Sivan said that the government has allotted Rs 30,000 crore for the organisation's activities of which Rs 10,000 crore has been cleared by the cabinet for the Gaganyaan programme under which three Indian astronauts will be sent to space for up to seven days by 2022. Discussing about the progress of the Chandrayaan-2 mission, he said that the second moon mission will be lunched around March-April this year as it missed the January-February launch window. Last year, ISRO completed 16 missions, signing off with 7 successful missions, which included two successful GSLV missions in a single year. The year 2019 promises to be much more challenging to the ISRO community with 32 planned missions (14 launch vehicle, 17 satellite and 1 Tech. Demo. missions), the Chairman had announced in his New Year letter on 2 January. ers, if the Chief Minister decides to have both the leaders in the cabinet, the opposition parties would again target him on ‘family rule’ in the State. Yet, sources say, there is pressure from within the family to include Rama Rao into the cabinet. Still, some of the party leaders want the TRS chief to accommo- date Harish Rao in the new team. Harish has come to be known as the ‘trouble shooter’ in the party, going by the unobtrusive role he played in the last cabinet. These leaders also point out that Harish Rao had achieved the targets set for him. Harish Rao was given the responsibility of looking after Kodangal, Gadwal and Alampur constituencies during the elections and he ensured the victory of party candidates, with Congress party’s bigwigs (Revanth Reddy, D K Aruna) losing the election. Sources say that there has been no communication between the TRS chief and Harish Rao ever since Chandrashekar Rao took oath as the Chief Minister at Raj Bhavan. Harish is ostensibly busy in participating in different programmes in the district and following the instructions of the party leadership “like a disciplined worker”. Shah pitches for mandir New Delhi: BJP chief Amit Shah on Friday said his party is committed to construct Ram mandir in Ayodhya. “BJP wants Ram Mandir to be constructed at the earliest. We are trying in the Supreme Court that the case reaches its conclusion, but the Congress is trying to create obstacles. We want the case to be resolved soon,” Shah said in his inaugural address at the party’s convention at Ramlila Maidan. The BJP chief also hit out at Congress president Rahul Gandhi for attacking the Central government over Rafale issue. He said, “Out on bail in corruption case, the Congress presi- dent is levelling baseless allegations of graft against the Modi government. People are wiser than him.” Speaking about the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, Shah said the general election will be a battle of two ideologies. He asserted that BJP stands for cultural nationalism and development of poor, while the rivals have come together merely for power. The BJP had defeated each one of them in the 2014 general elections, he added. Shah also expressed confidence and claimed that the BJP would return to power with full mandate. Referring to the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), 2005, Dr Joseph Emmanuel, Director (Academics) of CBSE said the ‘Position Paper’ by the National Focus Group on Examination Reforms (NFGER) said that students should have the choice of picking one of two levels within that subject. As per NCF, not only the two levels of examinations cater to different kinds of learners, it also allows different levels of testing. Besides, it would also reduce overall stress levels. Emmanuel said that it is well known that students experience stress before and during their most ‘difficult’ subject examination. It was keeping in view of this important aspect and as evidenced by the board results, a decision has been taken to introduce two levels of examination in mathematics for the students who are going to appear in the board examination for the academic session ending March 2020 onwards, he added.
