Continued on Page 4 Buenos Aires: India on Friday presented a nine-point agenda to G20 countries, calling for “strong and active cooperation” among them to comprehensively deal with fugitive economic offenders. Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented the agenda in the second session of the G20 Summit on international trade, international ﬁnancial and tax systems. “Cooperation in legal processes such as effective freezing of the proceeds of crime, early return of offenders and efficient repatriation of the proceeds of crime should be enhanced and streamlined,” the agenda read. India also called for joint efforts by G20 countries to form a mechanism that denies entry and safe havens to fugitive economic offenders. “Principles of United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC), United Nations Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime (UNOTC), especially related to ‘International Cooperation’ should be fully and effectively implemented,” it said. India suggested that the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) should be called upon to assign priority and focus on establishing international cooperation, leading to timely and comprehensive exchange of information between competent authorities and ﬁnancial intelligence units. Continued on Page 4 H1B visas only for most skilled, highest paid foreign workers Washington: The Trump Administration on Friday proposed major changes to the H1B application process, including a new rule requiring companies to electronically register their petitions in advance, aimed at awarding the American work visa to the most skilled and highest paid foreign workers. The H1B visa, popular among Indian IT companies and professionals, is a non-immigrant visa that allows US companies to employ foreign workers in speciality occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise. Technology companies depend on H1B visas to hire tens of thousands of employees each year from countries such as India and China. Under the new rule, the USCIS will reverse the order by which it selects H1B petitions under the H1B cap and the advanced degree exemption. This is likely to increase the number of foreign workers with a master’s or higher degree from a US institution of higher education to be selected for an H1B cap number. Rahul Gandhi would address two public meetings on December 3 and is likely to come back to the state on the last day of the campaign, December 5, for some more meetings in the state. He is likely to address public meetings till the last minute of the campaign. Sonia Gandhi may also come on the last day of the campaign. He was 94. “He was 94 and is survived by his five children and their spouses, 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two siblings. He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Barbara; his second child Pauline Robinson ‘Robin’ Bush; and his brothers Prescott and William or ‘Bucky’ Bush. Funeral arrangements will be announced as soon as is practical.” His son George W Bush issued a statement: “Jeb, Neil, Marvin, Doro and I are saddened to announce that after 94 remarkable years, our dear Dad has died. George HW Bush was a man of the highest character and the best dad a son or daughter could ask for. America and India is JAI,” Modi said. “In Hindi, ‘JAI’ means success. “In a way, JAI is a message of success and we are making a new beginning. Our arrangement, I believe, will play a big role in promoting world peace and prosperity.” Isro to launch GSAT-11 satellite on Dec 5 n India’s heaviest satellite to be launched from French Guiana Bengaluru: Indian space agency Isro is scheduled to launch GSAT11, the "heaviest" satellite built by it, on-board Ariane-5 rocket of Arianespace from French Guiana on December 5. Weighing about 5,854 kg, GSAT-11 would play a vital role in providing broadband services across the country, and also provide a platform to demonstrate new generation applications, the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) said. It is the "heaviest" satellite built by Isro, the space agency said. GSAT-11 is the next generation "high throughput" communication satellite conﬁgured around Isro's I-6K Bus, and its designed lifetime is more than 15 years. It was initially planned for launch on May 25 was rescheduled by Isro, citing the need for additional technical checks. European space transporter Arianespace on its website said the launch window is between 2:07 am and 3:23 am, India time on December 5. The satellite would be initially placed in the Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit and subsequently be raised to Geostationary Orbit by ﬁring the Liquid Apogee Motor on-board the satellite. GSAT-11 would be located at 74 East and is the fore-runner in a series of advanced communications satellite with multispot beam antenna coverage over Indian mainland and Islands, Isro said. The heavy-lift Ariane-5 vehicle would carry GEO-KOMPSAT-2A for the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), along with GSAT-11. GEO-KOMPSAT-2A is designed to conduct meteorological and space weather monitoring missions. These numbers are improvement from the 4,283 athletes from 424 districts who took part at the 2017 edition of the National Inter District Junior athletics meet which was held in Vizag. This means that a representation of 65.6 per cent of India’s 640 districts will be participating in the competition.
