Naidu said that the state government had invested more than Rs 14,600 crore on the project till date of which about Rs 9,000 was invested after the Centre declared it as a national project, but they reimbursed only Rs 6,000 crore so far. Slamming BJP state president Kanna Lakshminarayana for blaming the slow progress of the project for the delay in the release of funds, the Chief Minister said this was the only project in the country which is being executed on a fast track. He remined that it was the NITI Aayog which had favoured entrusting the construction to AP government. "I did not say the state would do it. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu along with family members walking along the Spillway Gallery of Polavaram project in West Godavari district on Wednesday Centre’s initiative to push Amaravati design institute New Delhi: The government will introduce a bill in Parliament to amend National Institutes of Design (NID) Act, 2014 to include four new such centres within the ambit of this law, and to declare them as institutions of national importance. The four new NIDs, which will be included, are in Amaravati, Bhopal, Jorhat, and Kurukshetra. The decision regarding this was taken by the Union Cabinet chaired by PM Modi on Wednesday. According to an official statement, some minor amendments to the Act will include re-naming of NID Vijayawada as NID Amaravati and nomenclature of principal designer as equivalent to Professor are also proposed in the bill.
