Naidu said: “Though I was against the circulation of high denomination of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000, the Centre, after the demonetisation, reintroduced Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 notes to which I am against.” The RBI in its recent annual report had stated that of Rs 15.4 lakh crore notes demonetised, Rs 15.31 lakh crore had returned, which indicated that the experiment to flush out black money had failed. Naidu, speaking to reporters on Monday, said that Modi had pushed the country’s economy to the brink of disaster. “The Indian economy has collapsed due to the failure of NDA in introducing reforms,” he said, pointing out that any leader other than Modi would have done much better. “The people had lost faith in banking system since it became known that the banks themselves were involved in corruption during the last four-and-a-half years,” he said.
