The Bloomberg Robin Hood Index shows how many days the richest person of each country can hypothetically keep the government run- 2 LeT militants killed in 30-hr long encounter Srinagar: Two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants holed up in a building in Srinagar’s Karan Nagar area were killed on Tuesday following an encounter lasting more than 30 hours. The encounter began early last morning after two militants made a failed attempt to attack a CRPF camp. Alert guards thwarted the attack forcing the militants to ﬂee. Security forces comprising Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF then tracked down the militants and engaged them in a gun battle. A CRPF constable, identiﬁed as Mujahid Alam, was killed in the ﬁring. Continued on P6 OUR BUREAU Amaravati: Reliance Industries Limited chairman Mukesh Ambani has expressed readiness to invest in education, health and agriculture sectors in Andhra Pradesh. He made his intentions known when he met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at Secretariat at Velagapudi in Amaravati on Tuesday. He also favoured setting up of a mobile phone manufacturing unit with 10 lakh per month ca- pacity in Tirupati. This was in response to the request of Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister Nara Lokesh for a Jio mobile manufacturing unit in the state. Naidu designated a senior official to ensure that land is allotted for setting up the facility. After inspecting the Real Time Governance Centre at the Secretariat, Ambani showered praises on the Chief Minister. He said: “You are ahead of us. No country has thought this kind of a facility. You have done it. Kochi: At least five people have been killed and 10 injured after a blast occurred in an Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) tanker in Kerala's Cochin Shipyard. The blast took place after an ONGC tanker was brought to the shipyard for maintenance. Police and fire tenders have reached the site of accident. Those working at the time of the blast mostly included daily labourers and contract workers. The Centre is also proposing changes in the CrPC and to declare such men 'absconders' if they fail to appear in the court after three summons. According to reports, the MEA has written to the Home ministry and the Law ministry to consider the proposed amendments. Continued on P6 GSI hits upon high-value minerals off Vizag coast Visakhapatnam: After the Geological Survey of India (GSI) confirmed presence of a treasure of high-value minerals in the Bay of Bengal off Pudimadaka (AP) - Paradeep (Odisha), the Centre is understood to have begun the process of calling global tenders for unearthing the mineral wealth hidden under the blue waters. The GSI, after a series of underwater prospecting exercises, spotted 260 blocks of heavy mineral reserves whose total value is about Rs 1.4 lakh crore. Jaganmohan Reddy has already announced his party’s programme of action to press for special category status which would be his party MPs’ battle cry in Parliament. Addressing a public meeting at Kaligiri in Nellore district during his padayatra, the YSRC chief said: "If SCS is not given to our state by April 5, our MPs will quit the next day. Status is our life, elixir for many problems which the state is facing after bifurcation.” He said that the MPs would continue protests during the budget session in both the Houses of Parliament for one full month and submit their resignations the following day if the Centre remains quiet on the demand for SCS. At a high-level meeting on Monday night, the YSRC chief had announced that party workers would stage protests at Collectors’ offices in the state on March 1 besides a dharna at the CM’s office in Vijayawada.
