FRIDAY 27 JULY 2018 HYDERABAD | PAGES 16 Homeless locals stage dharna demanding allotment of JNNURM houses Congress leader Godavari Anjireddy alleges that instead of local people, MLAs are lobbying for the allotment of houses to the people of their constituencies OUR BUREAU Ramachandrapuram: Homeless poor people of Ramachandrapuram mandal in Sangareddy constituency staged dharna in front of the mandal Tahsildar Office on Thursday demanding immediate allotment of new houses constructed under JNNURM ( Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission) scheme last year at Narregudem on the ﬁrst priority to the constituency. A large number of agitating locals mostly women belong to more than 200 homeless families alleged that they were promised by the San- gareddy MLA G Mahipal Reddy of allotting the houses in the past. But now, despising us in the constituency, the TDP MLAs Magnati Gopinath and Arikepudi Gandhi of Jubilee Hills and Serilingampally constituencies have been creating hurdles for by allotting the houses illegally to nearly 300 people who belong to neighbouring constituencies. Our local MLA, MLC and corporators are now turning blind eye to entertain our plight, said the protesting women who lost their houses under the railway line project in the area and also submitted a petition to the Deputy Tahsildar regarding the same including the copies of allotment letters of house sanctions by the government. Congress leader Godavari Anjireddy also supported the agitation and demanded justice for the poor homeless people who warned that they would not give up until they were allotted the houses as they were promised in the past. The Congress leader said nearly 900 houses were constructed last year for poor people under JN- NURM scheme at Nerregudem in Ramchandrapuram mandal. Already Serilingampally MLA Arikepudi Gandhi had inﬂuenced the officials and lobbied in the allotment of houses for 74 families belong to his constituency and Jubillee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath is also trying to allot 300 houses for the people of his constituency. We demand the Sangareddy MLA and the officials to concern the issue of the locals with priority and allot the houses for them, she demanded. The homeless poor people of the local Patancheru constituency should be identiﬁed and allotted the houses on the ﬁrst priority. “We were already assured and issued the allotment letter of the houses. On last Saturday, we went to the site to ask for our allotment but we were denied to occupy. Our families are staying in slum areas under temporary shelters and our children are falling sick due to the polluted atmosphere. We demand officials for the immediate allotment of houses as promises by the MLA and Corporators.
