P13 PROMOTIONS TO SC/ST STAFF OKAYED ‘We will be able to choose PM’ Follow rule of law, BJP will not come to power after 2019 polls: Babu OUR BUREAU Amalapuram: Seeking to call YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s bluff that he had brought pressure on the Centre for Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan not to accept YSRC MPs resignations, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday said that if he had that much grip on the BJP, he would have got Special Category Status for AP and persuaded the Centre to honour all commitments made for AP in the AP State Reorganisation Act. Addressing a public meeting on the occasion of week-long Nava Nirmana Deeksha, the Chief Minister said “Would anyone believe what YSRC chief is saying? In fact, the YSRC does not want its MPS resignations accepted as in Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu unveiling the statue of NT Rama Rao at Nallavantena in Amalapuram town on Tuesday such an eventuality, they would have to face by-elections which they would surely lose." Naidu said that this was the reason why the resignation game is being played out at Delhi with Sumitra Mahajan deferring her decision and YSRC MPs making a show that they were eager to get their resignations accepted. “The Oil of jack fruit seeds can prevent lung, cervical cancer Andhra University Vice Chancellor G Nageswar presenting PhD to Nagala Sirisha in Visakhapatnam VK LAKSHMI GAYATRI Visakhapatnam: A research scholar of Andhra University, after a five and half years work, succeeded in isolating a compound from the oil extracted from jack fruit seeds to prevent lung and cervical cancers. The biochemistry scholar N Sirisha selected five different species of jack fruit (Artocarpus) seeds in Kaviti and Sompeta in Srikakulam district and began her work to isolate Fatty Acid Methyl Esters (FAME) of jack fruit seeds. “I extracted the oil from jack fruit seeds. In the seeds, fat content is very less but I extracted it using soxhalation technique and collected oil for experimental analysis. During the lipid, photochemical, antioxidant analyses, I could notice the oil’s antimicrobial property and isolated the compound,” she said, sharing her experiences in her research with The Hans India. “Fatty acid profile plays a vital role in biological properties and they are useful for further advanced research. The seed oil contains a healthy mixture of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids when compared with other seed oils,” she added. With the successful output she selected one of the species Artocarpus integer which shows highest activity of antiinflammatory and anticancer activities. She further continued research for A5 49 and Hela cancer cell lines activities. “The Artocarpus integer showed cytotoxic effect on cancer cell lines and my research supports the traditional usage of Artocarpus integer seed oil of fatty methyl ester compounds recommended for the use as therapeutic drug,” she said. With the guidance of the Prof TRaghava Rao, I have done enough research to prove that seed oil prevents the cancers for which I got PhD degree. I wish to continue research further, if the government provides necessary support,” Sirisha said. truth is neither the MPs nor the Speaker want the resignations accepted and if they prolong the issue till such time there is only one year left for elections, there would be no by-elections at all even if their resignations are accepted. This shows that they are afraid of facing the electorate”, he said. The Chief Minister was emphatic that the BJP would not come to power in the 2019 elections. "The BJP would be nowhere to be seen. We will be in a position to choose our prime minister," he said, and called upon the people to give his party a massive mandate in the Lok Sabha so that the TDP would win all the 25 parliamentary seats so that the TDP could call shots at the Centre. Continued on P6 SC directs Centre New Delhi (PTI): In a major relief to the Centre, the Supreme Court on Tuesday allowed it to go ahead with reservation in promotion for employees belonging to the SC and ST category in “accordance with law”. A vacation bench of justices Adarsh Kumar Goel and Ashok Bhushan said that the Centre was not “debarred” from making promotions in accordance with law in the matter. “It is made clear that Heavy rain lashes Vijayawada Vijayawada: After a gap of one month, the residents of Vijayawada got respite from scorching heat on Tuesday when rain accompanied by winds lashed the city for about an hour in the evening.
