The poll panel statement, which may prove to be controversial, came while deciding the appeal of an RTI applicant seeking to know donations collected by the six national parties who were brought under the ambit of the transparency law by the CIC in June 2013. “Requisite information is not available in the Commission. This is related to political parties and they are out of purview of the RTI. They may submit information of donation/amount collected through by Electoral bonds in their contribution report for the ﬁnancial year 201718 in the ECI for which the due date is September 30, 2018,” the appeal order citing comment of the Central Public Information Officer has said. As the Polavaram project is considered as the lifeline of Andhra Pradesh, which is primarily based on agriculture, the state government is allocating a lion’s share of its resources for completion of the project. The government proposed an allocation of Rs 9,000 crore for the project in the 201819 budget out of the total allocation of Rs 16,978 crore to the Water Resources Department. This multipurpose major project was planned to create ultimate irrigation potential of 2.91 lakh hectares in the state. The project also envisages generation of 960 MW of hydropower, drinking water supply to 540 villages and diversion of 80 TMC of water to Krishna basin. Specialised agencies like L&T-NBauer for diaphragm wall, Triveni for excavation, Kellar Constructions for jet grouting, Putzmeister for concreting have been brought on board for quality execution of the project. The progress of concreting increased with the involvement of Navayuga construction in the Polavaram works.
