Civil Services 2017: Topper gets 55.6% New Delhi: The UPSC has released the marks of candidates who cleared the Civil Services 2017 examination and the first-rank holder, Durishetty Anudeep, has got 55.60 per cent marks, reflecting the tough standards of the test. The 28-year old Indian Revenue Service Officer scored 1,126 marks -- 950 in the written test and 176 in the interview -- out of 2,025, according to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The main exam is of 1,750 marks and the interview 275. Anu Kumari, who stood second, secured 55.50 per cent or 1,124 marks (937 in written and 187 in interview). Jammu & Kashmir DGP SP Vaid said all the bodies of the slain militants have been recovered. “Encounter concluded at Badigam Zainpora Shopian, 5 bodies of terrorists recovered. Well done boys – Army/ CRPF/J&K Police,” the DGP tweeted. Police said the encounter broke out when security forces launched a search operation following inputs about the possible presence of militants at Badigam village in Zainapora area of the south Kashmir district. Five civilians also died during clashes between protesters and law enforcing agencies near the encounter site, the police said. The proposals kept on the backburner for one year may remain there for some more time. Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of APSRTC NV Surendra Babu who assumed ofﬁce recently told The Hans India that he was not aware of any such move and will deﬁnitely look into the issue and do what- ever is required. This indicates the fact that it was not in the priority list of the management. During the early 2017, a high-level committee from the RTC visited the city to study various aspects like existing facilities in the bus stand, passenger rush, number of buses plying everyday among other things. The authorities have also hired the services of an international consultancy to prepare a comprehensive plan to make the bus complex in the pilgrim city a world class facility. As the firm also prepared a plan for the bus terminal at Vadodara in Gujarat. It was preferred for making a plan for the bus station here. There were two reasons for putting in place a modern bus terminal here. Continued on Page 6 Govt likely to notify 8.55% interest on PF New Delhi: The Union Labour Ministry is likely to notify this week the 5-year low 8.55 per cent interest on PF for 2017-18, paving the way for retirement fund body EPFO to credit returns into the accounts of around 5 crore subscribers. The Finance Ministry has ratiﬁed 8.55 per cent rate of interest on EPF for last ﬁscal. "The Labour Ministry has sought Election Commission’s approval to notify rate of interest for crediting the same into members accounts by the EPFO in view of model code of conduct for Karnataka elections," a source said. "The nod is expected anytime this week to provide 8.55 per cent rate of interest to the EPFO subscribers," the source said. The recommendation on the rate of interest by the Central Board of Trustees or CBT, the apex decision making body of Employees Provident Fund Organisation(EPFO), is sent to the Finance Ministry for its concurrence. Once ratiﬁed, the Labour Ministry notiﬁes the rate of interest and the EPFO credits the return for the particular year into its members account. Continued on Page 6
