Centre sees 1 cr new jobs on 12% pension sop New Delhi: The government hopes to create 1 crore new jobs by bearing the entire 12 per cent of the basic salary that employers are mandated to make towards pension for the ﬁrst three years for new employees. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday approved payment for the entire 12 per cent contribution for ﬁrst three years for new staff. "Our government is committed to creating jobs. The scheme which was implemented in 2016 had a provision for the government to pay for 8.33 per cent of the pension contribution by employers,” Labour Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar said at a brieﬁng on Thursday. "We have further expanded the scope of the scheme. It has been decided that for apparel, garment and textile segments, the full 12 per cent of the employers' pension contribution will also be borne by government," Santosh Kumar Gangwar said. Since the launch of scheme in August 2016, Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Protsahan Yojana (PMRPY), as many as 30 lakh workers have already beneﬁted, he said. ISRO chief K Sivan said the ﬁfth successive successful launch of the GSLV with indigenous cryogenic stage successfully placed the high power Sband communication satellite in the "designated orbit precisely." GSAT6A was a complement to GSAT6, which was already in orbit, and these two satellites combined will provide a platform for development of advance technologies, he said. This is the ﬁrst mission for Sivan, who assumed charge of the space agency in January. The space agency had yet another precise launch. Right from the core stage ignition to the GSAT-6A satellite separation, the entire launch was completed within the scheduled mission. The QR code energised books will allow the students to access web links to films and additional material to supplement the chapter New Delhi: NCERT published textbooks will carry QR codes from next year, which will provide web links to ﬁlms or related reading content to help students understand subjects better, Union minister Prakash Javadekar said on Thursday. Javadekar also announced that students who take education loans will not have to pay the interest for the duration of the course plus one year. He said the government has made a provision of Rs 6,600 crore for bearing the interest component on the loans. Nearly 10 lakh students would avail the beneﬁts from 2017-18 to 2019-20, with the government bearing about Rs 2,200 crore per year towards interest costs on education loans, the minister said. Under the scheme, the government will bear the interest cost on education loan up to Rs 7.50 lakh for students from families with less than Rs 4.5 lakh income, Javadekar said brieﬁng reporters about Wednesday’s Cabinet decisions. From 2009 to 2014, the government has spent Rs 800 crore per year under the scheme, which increased to Rs 1,800 crore per year from 2014 to 2017, he said. The minister said that the government has also decided that three existing schemes on improving public education Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan and the Teacher Education (TE) -- would be merged.
