Naidu, reacting to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s assurance to the state, wanted to know when and how the formula to transfer funds to the state under special package would be evolved and when the funds would actually start flowing into the state. “The fight has to be staged in Parliament and not on streets,” he said, in an indirect reference to the left parties’ proposed bandh on Thursday for which the principal opposition party YSRC has extended support. Naidu wanted the members to extract a reply form the Centre on what it has done to th estate thus far, and what it intends to do. The members should insist more on when, implying that there should be time schedule for the implementation of all the promises, programmes and projects. Naidu, expressing surprise over the formula that Jaitley had talked about in his reply, wondered why a formula should be worked out when no such for- Centre to link driving licence with Aadhaar; SC told New Delhi (PTI): The Centre is in the process of linking driving licences with Aadhaar number to weed out fake licences and a software for this covering all states on a real time basis is under preparation, the Supreme Court was told on Wednesday. A bench comprising Justices Madan B Lokur and Deepak Gupta was informed about it by a courtappointed committee on road safety headed by former Supreme Court judge Justice K S Radhakrishnan. This assumes significance as a fivejudge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra is currently hearing a clutch of petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the Aadhaar scheme and the enabling 2016 law. The committee, in its report filed in the top court, said it had held a meeting on November 28 last year with the joint secretary of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to discuss several issues, including procurement of fake licences and how to eliminate it. "On the issue of fake licences, joint secretary, MoRTH informed that NIC (national informatics centre) is now preparing 'Sarthi-4' under which all the licences would be linked to Aadhaar," the report said. He also promised to stand by Andhra Pradesh and reaffirmed that the Telugu Desam Party was BJP’s ally despite the fact that the relations between the two appeared a little stretched with yellow party members indulging in saber-rattling in both the houses of Parliament seeking a fair deal for AP in the budget. Narendra Modi, while replying to the debate on the Motion of Thanks to President’s address, used words as whiplashes against the Congress when he referred to how the party had divided the state by closing the doors of the Parliament. “It was because of the way you have divided AP that problems continue even now. When the A B Vajpayee’s dispensation created three new states, there was no rancour or ill-will. It was because after division, assets were divided to the satisfaction of both the states. But in case of AP it did not happen that way. You have divided AP keeping an eye on political benefit. The people are suffering because of your actions,”” Modi said. He said if the BJP had supported the division of the state, it was because the people of Telangana wanted it. Continued on P6 Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Lok Sabha member Galla Jayadev on Wednesday warned the Centre that the people of Andhra were not fools to be carried away with empty and inane promises. The MP, speaking on a debate which the Speaker allowed in Lok Sabha on issues relating to AP, said that promises made by the Centre were not backed by action which led to despair and frustration among the people. He said the Centre had committed itself to honouring all the 19 assurances made in the AP State Reorganisation Act, 2014 and special package announced in September in 2016 but no action had followed. People are not ready to be taken for a ride repeatedly, he said. “The Centre has allocated substantial sums of money for Metro Rail projects in Bengaluru and Mumbai, but it did not bother to mention even the names of Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam metro-rail projects. If you do not keep promises, you would have to face a tough time in elections,” he warned. That was awesome fired its 27 engines and rumbled into the blue sky over the same NASA launchpad that served as a base for the US missions to Moon four decades ago. “Wow, did you guys see that? That was awesome,” said SpaceX commentator Lauren Lyons as applause thundered through mission control yesterday. SpaceX commentator John Innsbrucker said it was “everything you could want in a test flight.” Loaded with Musk's red Tesla and a mannequin in a spacesuit, the monster rocket's historic test voyage has captured the world's imagination. SpaceX's webcast showed Musk's Tesla roadster soaring into space, as David Bowie's “Space Oddity” played in the background -- with the words “DON'T PANIC” visible on the dashboard, in an apparent nod to the sci-fi series the “Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.” Musk posted a video of the car on Twitter after launch, in which he can be heard laughing in the background as a camera behind the mannequin’s head shows the car apparently in orbit around Earth. “It actually really doesn't look real, it’s crazy,” Musk can be heard saying. He later posted another video showing a “live view of Starman” appearing to cruise, its gloved hand on the wheel, through the darkness of space, the Earth’s image re- flected on its glossy red surface. The car was also outfitted with a high-data storage unit containing Isaac Asimov's science fiction book series, the Foundation Trilogy, and a plaque bearing the names of 6,000 SpaceX employees. About two minutes into the flight, the two side boosters peeled away from the centre core and made their way back toward Earth for an upright landing. Both rockets landed side by side in unison on launchpads, live video images showed. “New Olympic sport - Synchronized Landings!” wrote NASA astro- naut Randy Bresnik on Twitter. “HUGE congrats to the @SpaceX team on your maiden flight! Another giant step towards making spaceflight for everyone a reality.” The third, center booster was to attempt a landing on an ocean platform although its status was still unclear. Experts said the launch would likely catch the eye of the US space agency NASA, which may consider using the Falcon Heavy as a way to fast-track its plans to reach the Moon again for the first time since 1972.
