The SCR general manager announced the decision at a press conference here on Tuesday after the pink book (railway budget) was tabled in Parliament. The inclusion of the creation of PRC in the budget 2018-19 proposals is also under active consideration. State Finance department has already taken up the task of preparations like providing logistic support and required analytical data to the new PRC. As per the rules, government would have to constitute PRC and revise the pay scales of its employees every ﬁve years. The last PRC recommendations have come into force from July 2014. In fact, Telangana government had implemented 10th PRC, constituted by the then Congress government in the united Andhra Pradesh, recommendations. The newly constituted PRC will be the ﬁrst one in Telangana State. Officials said that it is mandatory the government should create the PRC before June end and seek its SC WARNS CENTRE ‘Don’t dump junk, we are not garbage collectors’ New Delhi (PTI): The Supreme Court on Tuesday warned the Centre for dumping “junk” before it in an 845-page affidavit containing incomplete information about solid waste management across the country saying that the top court is not a “garbage collector”. The scathing remarks by the apex court, which was hearing a matter related to implementation of Solid Waste Management Rules 2016 across the country, came when the Centre’s advocate proposed to ﬁle the affidavit in the court. A bench comprising justices Madan B Lokur and Deepak Gupta declined to take the affidavit on record and observed that the government cannot dump junk before it and there was no point in ﬁling an affidavit if it contained “nothing”. “What are you trying to do? Continued on P4 Govt doubles import duty on sugar to 100%, hikes chana to 40% New Delhi (PTI): The government on Tuesday doubled import duty on sugar to 100 per cent and raised duty on chana to 40 per cent to protect domestic farmers. At present, customs duty or import tax on sugar is 50 per cent and that on chana (chickpeas) is 30 per cent. The move is aimed at curbing cheaper imports and ensure remunerative prices to domestic growers. The notiﬁcation issued by the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) seeks to increase import duty on all types of sugar (raw sugar, reﬁned or white sugar) from the present 50 per cent to 100 per cent. “The higher tax has been imposed with immediate effect and without an end date,” says CBEC. The sugar industry has been demanding hike in import duty as ex-mill rates have fallen below the cost of production, affecting their ability to make cane payment to farmers on time. recommendations to hike the employees’ wages.
