According to VSP sources, the authorities maintain that iron ore sufficient for 17 days is available at the stockyard. With the passing of one-and-a-half month since the incident occurred, the iron ore stockyard has backup for only 10 days as of now. Though the railway authorities facilitated another route for the transportation of cargo via Koraput- RayagadaVizianagaram- Visakhapatnam, the cargo being ferried to VSP is not matching to production needs. According to VSP sources, even as the steel plant needs seven to eight rakes of iron ore daily to maintain its production levels, only five or six rakes are arriving every day resulting in depleting of stocks. The steel plant gets iron ore supplies from the Bailadilla mines of the NMDC through the K-K line. But, the rains last month saw a landslide in the agency area which damaged the railway bridge and track in the Eastern Ghats. It is learnt from the Railway authorities that the restoration work at K-K line gets completed only by December 15th and till then the steel plant may have to grapple with the problem. That is precisely what happened during a BCCI Under-19 Women’s One-Day Super League Group ‘B’ match at JKC College grounds here on Friday. Earning this dubious distinction was Nagaland, which after opting to bat first, was shot out for two runs after nine batswomen failed to open their account against Kerala. Chasing the ‘target’ was no big deal for Kerala but the manner they achieved it added to the farce. Apparently under pressure, Deepika Kaintura bowled a wide while her next ball was despatched to the ropes by Ansu S Raju to help Kerala win the match by 10 wickets and pocket full four points.
